51136 is a self-adhesive polyethylene tape for masking large areas of plastic parts during professional painting processes, e.g., as an overmasking tape for the production of two-tone bumpers for the automotive industry.

The 51136 has a high resistance against all standard methods of surface pretreatment like flaming, power wash, or plasmas treatment. The backing of the tape allows soft and easy unwinding and gives good anchorage to solvent- or water-based paints.

The color of the tape provides a good contrast to dark surfaces making the positioning easier and faster.

Coated with an acrylic adhesive, the tape has a good tack also to embossed plastic surfaces and does not lift off during oven-drying (maximum temperature 212°F for 1 hour). After the drying process, 51136 can be removed easily in warm and cold conditions without adhesive residues or tearing.
